Over 150 business and community leaders attended the Economic Development Authority's (EDA) Business Appreciation Reception held on May 15, 2008 at the King George County Citizen's Center.

Land clearing has begun for the Gateway Urgent Care Clinic, located on Route 3 approximately one half mile east of the King George County Courthouse in The Journal Complex which currently houses offices for a local dentist, chiropractor and podiatrist in addition to offices of The Journal newspaper.

Developer Harenc, LLC, represented by Ruth Herrink, sees this venture as an opportunity to provide needed medical care services to the community she so dearly loves, as well as an attractive opportunity to medical professionals.

King George Medical Center, LTD, owners of the King George Medical Center in Dahlgren and King George Pediatrics will occupy 5,000 of the 15,000 square foot facility where they will provide urgent medical care services as Gateway Urgent Care Clinic.  The remaining 10,000 square feet is being marketed to laboratory and complimentary medical service providers along with other professional entities that desire to be close to an urgent care setting.  

Construction will begin soon with plans to open the Urgent Care Center in the fall of 2008.
