New Business Checklist

1. File with the State Corporation Commission's (SCC) Clerk Information System for a Certificate of Assumed or Fictitious Name. View the SCC's New Business Resources.
2. Complete the Home Occupation Permit (PDF) package, or Zoning Permit (PDF) with Community Development.
3. Complete the King George County Business License Application (PDF). *subject to $25 fee*

To complete your business license registration, you may need to following:

• If you are Incorporated, LLC, LP, GP, etc., then you will need to provide a copy of your certificate (corporate charter) from the SCC.
• If you are a restaurant, then you will need to provide a copy of your health permit from the Virginia Department of Health and complete a Meals Tax Registration Form (PDF).
• If you are a contractor, you must provide a copy of your Virginia Contractors License issued by the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation.
