Community Oriented CPR/First-Aid/AED (Single Provider) Course

  • Prerequisites: Ages 14-100, if younger please ask. (NO CHILD CARE PROVIDED)

Certification Cards will be emailed to the provided EMAIL ADDRESS upon completion of the class.  If you are unable to attend, please contact the CPR Coordinator. If there are any changes to the class schedule, the CPR Coordinator will contact you at the information provided as soon as possible.
  • Cost: None, but donations are accepted to help cover the cost to host this course.
  • Description: (Bring a sack lunch and possible snacks - long day!) Class starts at 0800 promptly, and should end between 1530 and 1630 depending on the students. All materials provided by KGFR. There are frequent breaks but no formal lunch time - eating during class is allowed. All dates are Saturdays - generally meeting in Training Room A. (Minimum number of Students: 3, Max of 9)

    ASHI CPR, AED, and Basic First Aid combination training was created to allow instructors an easy option for their students seeking a comprehensive training class. The program helps develop basic first aid knowledge, skills, and the confidence to respond. CPR, AED, and Basic First Aid combination training is an excellent choice for both the community and workplace setting, and conforms to the 2015 AHA Guidelines Update for CPR, ECC, and First Aid.

    This class is intended for Individuals who are not healthcare providers or professional rescuers but desire or are required to be certified in basic emergency medical care, including certification in CPR and the use of an AED.

BLS for Healthcare Providers and Professional Rescuers (Two-rescuer) - Initial or Renewal Certification Course for Healthcare Providers

  • Location: Company 1 - Fire/Rescue Headquarters, 8122 Kings Highway, King George, VA 22485
  • Prerequisites: Ages 14-100, if younger please ask. (NO CHILD CARE PROVIDED) This CPR certification course is accepted by VA OEMS and is recognized to meet the standards as a prerequisite for enrollment into an initial EMT or EMR program.

  • Description: Basic Life Support (BLS). This expert-level program helps keep healthcare professionals prepared and ready to respond as they encounter life-threatening emergencies, provide basic life support and respond to choking incidents. ASHI’s Basic Life Support, BLS for Healthcare Providers and Professional Rescuers conforms to the 2015 AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC. It has been an approved training for Emergency Medical Services personnel and is accepted by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT). The program is also CAPCE approved and widely accepted in more than 150 healthcare-related occupations. This program is designed for individuals in the healthcare or professional rescuer field that are required to have professional-level basic life support training.

ACLS / PALS Course (Initial Certification) - Internal ONLY

  • Date/Time: (ACLS) November 19 & 20  (PALS) December 10 & 11  (0900-1700 each day)
  • Location: Company 1 - Fire/Rescue Headquarters, 8122 Kings HWY, King George, VA 22485
  • Prerequisites: Current CPR & AEMT level  or higher EMS certification
  • Description: This will provide the ALS provider with an ASHI ACLS/PALS initial certification
  • Notes: This course consists of both lecture and hands-on skills curriculum.  Candidates must successfully pass the cognitive and skills final exams to be eligible for certification.  All providers MUST also complete a King George Training Request form in order to complete their registration.  Training request forms should be submitted through your chain of command as usual.

VDFP Fire Instructor 1

  • Prerequisites: 
  1. Current Firefighter II certification which meets/exceeds one or more of the following: 

a. Virginia Department of Fire Programs (VDFP)
b. National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualification (NBFSPQ)
c. International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC)
- AND –
Virginia Department of Fire Programs’ recognition/certificate for Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations training certificate which meets or exceeds one or more of the following:
a. Virginia Department of Fire Programs training in Hazardous Materials Operations b.
b. Virginia Department of Emergency Management as a Hazardous Materials Technician -OR- Specialist
