Crime Prevention

The goal of crime prevention is to minimize or eliminate opportunities for crime and violence in the county. To achieve this, our department supports different programs and services to reduce crime opportunities through increased security, education and community involvement. We hope to build a sense of shared responsibility among King George County citizens to empower them to assist us in protecting themselves and their neighbors. 

Our facebook page is where we post about our day-to-day activities. It is one of the first places you can hear about different programs and events as well as pertinent news and crime reports. Content includes traffic alerts, program/event announcements, deputy recognitions, crime reports and local news/incidents. Click the button in the right column to follow us!

KG Alert allows you to receive emergency alerts (calls, texts or emails) based on your address or specific alert category interests. You can customize what type of information you want to receive, such as weather alerts from the National Weather Service, crime notifications, waterline breaks, road closures and more.

This designated area is located right outside of our office and consists of 3 parking spaces that are painted green. This area is monitored 24/7 with security cameras, providing you with a secure and reliable space for various types of exchanges. Whether you’re meeting someone to exchange items from an online marketplace, coordinating child custody drop-offs or looking for a neutral, safe location for a transaction, this zone is available to you.

National Night Out occurs annually on the first Tuesday in August. The event seeks to promote community-building and police-community partnerships, which make our neighborhoods safer through familiarity with our neighbors and comfort with our law enforcement. Neighborhoods can participate through hosting a variety of community events that feature safety demonstrations, kid-friendly events, and meetups with emergency personnel. 

Operation Medicine Cabinet is a program that allows the public to prevent drug addiction and overdose deaths by providing a safe, convenient, and anonymous way to dispose of medications. Dates are announced on our Facebook page.

TRIAD is a monthly program with a mission of reducing crime against the elderly. Monthly meetings cover a variety of topics to educate and empower senior citizens with crime prevention information. Topics may include: disability resources, scam and fraud prevention, wills and the power of attorney and more. Dates are announced on our Facebook page.

RAD is an acronym that stands for Rape Aggression Defense. This nationally-recognized program is a basic self-defense class for women focused on awareness, prevention, risk reduction and realistic self-defense tactics. RAD is a free, hands-on course designed for women of all skill levels. Dates are announced on our Facebook page.

School Resource Officers are currently assigned to all of the county's public schools. These uniformed deputies work closely with the school administration to provide students with a positive learning environment. They aid in providing safety education programs for youth, such as DARE.
